How we measure

The questions we ask

These are the questions a report puts to the AI engines. Your own details fill the bracketed slots, and nothing else about you enters a question.

  • Both the Authority Snapshot and the AI Pulse ask these twelve questions of ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity, with web search on.
  • The same questions go to Google AI Overviews (AIO), reported beside the engines and never averaged into them.
  • An AI Pulse subscriber can add up to three questions of their own, which are shown in the report and never scored.
  1. “Who is [your name]?”
  2. “What does [your name] do professionally, and where do they currently work?”
  3. “What is [your name] best known for?”
  4. “Who are the best [people in your profession] in or near [your city], [your state]?”
  5. “Who are the leading experts on [what you are known for]?”
  6. “I want to find a [your profession] in [your city]. Would you recommend [your name], and who else should I consider?”
  7. “Is [your name] reputable? What is their professional reputation?”
  8. “Where can I learn more about [your name] online? What sources mention them?”
  9. “I want to find a [your profession] in [your city]. Who should I consider?”
  10. “Has [your name] been involved in any controversy, criticism, or legal disputes?”
  11. “What do [your clients] say about [your name]?”
  12. “What would you hire [your name] to do?”

The wording adapts to the details you give us, so a question in your report can read a little differently from the version shown here, and a question that needs a detail you did not give is left out. A report is never compared with one measured on different questions or different engines.
